VTOS Celebrate Intercultural Day

Date: 02 Jul 2013

VTOS Limerick City Intercultural Day serves to highlight the diversity and culture of all the different nationalities that participate on VTOS courses. It was a great day and wonderful to see students and staff working together to make this a unique and truly enjoyable occasion.

A number of different events took place, commencing with the official opening flag ceremony given by VTOS Co-ordinator Patricia Kennedy. Indeed, the special culinary talents of a number of VTOS students from over twenty countries were employed throughout the day including an assortment of culinary delights from Europe, Africa and Asia. There were plenty of other events to catch people’s interest including displays from over thirty countries, an Irish Céilí and a drumming circle.

VTOS students are ambassadors for the different nationalities in Limerick and the Intercultural Day event creates strong bonds for learners and teachers as part of lifelong learning and creates cross culture friendships. According to Michelle Benson, the event co-ordinator, “The goal of the Intercultural Day is to create a place where everyone can appreciate the different aspects of the cultures in VTOS. It is a great opportunity to learn about the cultures of the world, many of which are represented in Limerick city, and we’ll have lots of fun at the same time.”
VTOS students enjoy learning in friendly surroundings and are taught by highly skilled and experienced teachers. VTOS allo
