GCL to Stage First Belltable Production
Date: 30 Apr 2012
Gaelcholáiste Luimnigh is proud to present Brian Friel’s Dancing at Lughnasa. The play will be staged at The Belltable, Limerick on Wednesday 3rd and Thursday 4th May at 8pm. It will be performed by Transition Year students of GCLuimnigh under the direction of teachers Ms. Naomi Ní Mhuiríosa and Ms. Rachel Ní Fhionnáin. Ms Ní Mhuiríosa said: “We are delighted to be producing our first GCL production at The Belltable and a different cast will perform each night, so a unique performance is guaranteed”.

Dancing at Lughnasa is set in 1930’s Donegal and follows the lives of five Mundy sisters - Kate, Maggie, Agnes, Rose and Christina. The summer of 1936 is remembered through the eyes of Christina’s son, Michael, as he recalls love, loss, the women dancing and how life was before it changed forever.

Commenting on the forthcoming production, GCL Deputy Principal, Sinéad Ní Chiardha, said: “Gaelcholáiste Luimnigh is delighted to stage this performance of Dancing At Lughnasa. Students and teachers have worked extremely hard over the past few months and all members of the GCL community are really looking forward to the production. We wish all involved every success and we are very proud of their endeavour”.

Tickets, at €10, are available from Gaelcholáiste Luimnigh at 061-404959.
